So this morning we had Gareth Von Kallenbach on our show to talk about video games…Gareth is our movies & video games guru, and has a great site called Skewed & Reviewed, check it out at www.sknr.net  .  Gareth was on to talk about some of the new video games coming out…boy, did I feel like the old guy that doesn’t get kids these days, as I was reminiscing of the good old days of games like Mortal Kombat, Double Dragon, Combat, and Barn Storming!!!   Gareth brought up a game that sounds awesome, and it’s featured on a gaming platform that we usually don’t think of – the iPHONE.  It’s a game app that is I thing $2.99, and it sounds like the ultimate stoner game.  It’s called Plants Vs. Zombies, and it is exactly what the title says…check it out (it’s available as a PC game too) at www.plantsvszombies.com .

A listener asked about where they can find the video of a spoof we did on all of those Jimmy Kimmel “I’m F***ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck”…it’s all about how Double R screws up the show…if you have never seen it, here it is:

Speaking of Double R…check this out…a cool video promoting Double R opening for Jimmy Shubert on March 25th:

Thanks to Jesse Ventura for joining us this morning.  Jesse was on to promote his new book “American Conspiracies: Lies, Lies, and More Dirty Lies the Government Tells Us.”  He was on the View yesterday & made the ladies on The View look like fools…which isn’t hard to do!

While we had Jesse on the show, I had to ask him what his thoughts were about Hulk Hogan stepping back in the ring, and being a part of TNA Wrestling.  Jesse is a former wrestler, and was wrestling at the same time Hogan was coming up the ranks….Here is Jesse’s answer:

“You know what…didn’t he just write a book called, “My Life out of Wrestling”? Why did he write the book if he’s still going to do it? Come on…write the book when you’re really done. I think it’s absurd, I think it’s absurd to see people 56 to 60 years old still trying to reclaim their youth.  Time beats every athlete; Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan and guess what Hulk, you too!”

So the morning began with us talking about how Corey Haim died of an apparent accidental overdose at the age of 38.  Of course this turned into a touching tribute from us, as we argued with BJ about some character actress – Rasheeda Jones or something like that…as BJ feels that she is as big of a star as Corey Haim.  Yes, Corey has done nothing worth noting recently…other than that horrible reality show he did with the other Corey (Feldman), but he was a HUGE star when I was growing up.  I have no idea who this Rasheeda person is, I’m sure she is a talented actress, but she is no where near the level of success that Corey once had.

Last night was WWE Smackdown at the Key arena…what a great time.  The also taped WWE Superstars, and they filmed WWE NXT (which aired live on Sy Fy)…it was a blast to watch the behind the scenes as they had to change up the ring for each different show they taped.  I was stoked to be abale to watch WWE’s new show NXT last night (where they pair up pro’s with rookies)…Aberdeen’s own – Daniel Bryan – was there last night, and he got a great reaction from the crowd all last night…he is great to watch him wrestle live!  Once again, props to the WWE…another great live show…they always bring it.  The highlight was watching Double R’s kid, Double B reacting to the night…he was trying to climb over the barricade…I think he wanted a piece of The Miz!!!!!

Thanks to Annie Duke for joining us…Annie is a professional poker player, and will be at the Cystic Fibrosis Poker Tournament on Friday night at The W hotel…get more info here:

http://www.kisw.com/pages/6489876.php

You might remember Annie Duke for her appearance on Celebrity Poker, and her battle with Joan Rivers was awesome!!!!

No video blog today, we have to roll out right after the show to talk to some students at Green River Community College.

Fun times this morning…the morning started off with a battle of nerd-dom between BJ & Anthony from the Opie & Anthony show…both are big Star trek fans, so we had a head to head battle in Star trek trivia…and BJ was the big winner…or…well…the biggest loser, as he beat Anthony 3 to 2.  Here are the questions we asked Anthony (we asked Anthony 5 questions, and they asked BJ 5 questions):

1. What does NCC and USS stand for?
2. Doctor Leonard McCoy became chief medical officer of the Enterprise after the departure of ______________________ in 2265.
3.  While on patrol in deep space during the episode “Space Seed”, the Enterprise comes across an old Earth space vessel…What is the name of that vessel?
4. When Kirk and his landing party arrive on the planet during the “Catspaw” episode,  they are met by a wizard who tries to bend them to his will.  What is the wizard’s name?
5. In the “Court Martial” episode, Captain Kirk meets a lost love who eventually turns out to be the prosecuting attorney.  What is her name?
This morning I learned something new…it’s called the “Push Present” …the idea of this is that the woman should expect a gift as big or bigger than their engagement ring at the time they are in the hospital and have just delivered a child.  This is ridiculous!  Did I mention that this is completely ridiculous!!!!  What’s next?  An “Aunt Flo” gift when it’s that time of the month?  Where is my Push Present?  After I eat Mexican I need to push something out…where’s my gift…where’s my watch?

Thanks to Leonard Nimoy for joining us…during my intro I made mention of Leonard Nimoy singing a song about Bilbo Baggins…if you have never seen it…check it out here:

Leonard summed it up best… “I was ahead of my time.”  Having Leonard on the phone was funny…I was never a Star Trek fan, but my dad was when I was growing up…so hearing his voice was a trip since it’s such a distinctive voice, so it felt like we were talking about Spock.

Huge thanks to Matt Hardy from the WWE for coming in this morning…it was real cool meeting him, a real nice guy.  Matt is here for WWE Smackdown & WWE NXT tonight at the Key Arena Check out today’s video blog to watch some of our interview with Matt!

Here is the same VLOG for you iPHONE people.

Here are the answers to the Star Trek Trivia:
1. In the Star Trek universe, NCC stands for Naval Construct Contract and USS stands for United Space Ship (not United States Ship).
2. Dr. Mark Piper
3. The SS Botany Bay
4. Korob
5. Lt. Areel Shaw

Huge Thanks to everyone that came out to Station 56 in Tacoma on Friday night…we had a packed house to welcome our 2010 Rock girls…what a great night!!!!

So as soon as we finished our event…Double R headed to the Parlor Live to try out his comedy (as he was out today to audition for Last Comic Standing), Doug Benson offered Double R a few minutes during his set to try things out…Here is Scotty Don’t’s review, as he was there:

Yes – it’s true! Double R hit the Parlor Live during the Doug Benson show. Double R coming on stage, saying that he pee’d himself.  Then, he intentionally spilled water on his crotch to show that it was a joke. (I think there was a Billy Madison movie about this) Double R told us about going to sleep with a girl in a waterbed, and waking up in a pool of ‘questionable’ water.  (We can’t remember if there was a punch line). Double R told us a timely joke about the Alice in Wonderland movie, and Doug helped him re-build it into a joke about Avatar. I don’t have any shots to take at him, as getting on stage is brave. I think that Glen the Toolbox and Double R could make a great comedy team.

ScottyDont

We got our hands on the audio of Double R’s performance at the Parlor, and we quickly realized that Double R had not shot to do well on stage, as Doug Benson was on stage goofing on every joke Dub tried to do.  If you aren’t aware of what Doug likes to do from time to time, it’s called the “Doug Benson Interruption” & the basic premise is that Doug will do shows with his fellow comedy buddies & during their set he will sit in the crowd and interrupt & goof on things…it’s really funny, but if you go into it not knowing anything about this, this could throw you off for sure.  Double R wasn’t aware of Doug doing stuff like this, and this pissed BJ off.  We got Doug on the phone…Doug thought he was being nice, and said that he could have torn Double R up, but didn’t.  Doug seemed annoyed with Double R for not using his material he was going to use on Last Comic Standing, and Double R was pissed at Doug for being his “whipping boy.”   It was a pretty awkward…I suggest checking out the 9 am hour from today’s daily podcast to fully absorb what went down.  All in all, it sounded like a giant misunderstanding between the two.

Dub told us his audition went well, but he didn’t make the cut.  He did say it was a great experience.

The Oscars were last night…I have to say I missed it.  I tried watching…but what’s the point…I haven’t seen most of these movies, and the Oscars takes itself too seriously with the orchestral music, and the elegant dresses…I much rather watch Frank the Entertainer with crazy bitches yelling at each other while wearing next to nothing.  I heard that Hurt Locker won the best picture Oscar, I’m sorry…I know the Oscars are “too cool of school,” but Avatar was an amazing film…one of the rare films that lives up to the mass amounts of hype…it was a visual work of art.  It made billions on top of of billions, and I know that isn’t how they pick winners, but c’mon…if that many people are going to see the film…it should account for something.  I thought it was funny that James Cameron’s (the director of Avatar) ex-wife won best director for the Hurt Locker, beating James for the award.  I thought it would be funny if in her acceptance speech was like this: “I’d like to thank my ex James for half of his money & all of this Oscar!”  The funny part was Toppy’s reaction when I said this on air, because he thought she really said that

Based on yesterday’s discussion about marriage, we got a few emails from people that would like to read the stats we read on air, here is that story:

On Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control released a new study on marriage and relationships.  Take a look at some of their findings:

  • According to the study, 78% of marriages last at least five years.
  • And when a couple lives together without getting married, they have just a 30% chance of making it five years.
  • The main reason for THAT statistic is that 51% of the couples who live together end up getting married WITHIN THREE YEARS.
  • In a first marriage, couples have a higher chance of staying together for ten years or longer if they’re from the same RACE.
  • When couples are married for at least eight months before having their first kid, nearly FOUR in FIVE of them end up making it to their tenth anniversary.
  • Married couples that never have kids are less than HALF as likely to last ten years as couples who do have kids.
  • And when a man and woman are both at least 26 years old when they get married, the odds that they’ll make it ten years is about 75%.  But when they get married as teens, they only have a 50-50 shot at making it ten years.
  • And according to a separate survey of 4,000 couples in the UK, married couples are HAPPIEST 11 months and eight days after their wedding.  And they have their BEST SEX after they’ve been married for two years and four months.  (Yahoo News)

Exciting news this morning…we played audio from our Nut Hut podcast where Louie Anderson called Double R’s cell to let Dub know the exciting news…Louie got Dub an audition on Last Comic Standing this weekend.  Double R leaves for LA to audition this weekend.  Good Luck Dub!!!  Wow.  That is so cool.  I am sure this will piss off some of the local comics, as Dub just started dabbling in stand up comedy a couple weeks ago after being inspired at the Stand Up Boot Camp.  I have to say this…people who get pissed & jealous when something good happens to someone need to look at themselves in the mirror & realize that good things don’t happen to them because they live a miserable, bitter experience.  Good things happen to good people.  I truly believe that.  I have always lived my life this way, and I try not to associate myself with people like this.  I’ve seen this in the world of music too…funny how musicians & comics are a like…I remember a long time ago, and my band was starting out at the same time as Death Cab For Cutie…we played tons of shows with them & rolled in the same circle of friends/bands.  Once they started getting popular, it’s funny how some would complain about their success.  Here’s a thought…they are good dudes, and worked hard, and deserve the success…I couldn’t be happier for them.  I see this in relationships too…I hate when people give people a hard time because they are happy in a relationship…some people get weird about that, and bitch about those that are happy…I guess it’s a case of misery loves company.  Here’s a thought, lose the miserable mentality, be inspired by those that do have good things happen to them.  Good things happen to good people.

Big thanks to Doug Benson for coming in this morning.  Doug has become a great friend of the show, and is in town at the Parlor Live this weekend.  Get more info at www.parlorlive.com . Also if you buy your tix at that site…enter BJ in the promo code for a $5 discount.

Ahhhh marriage…today BJ read a whole bunch of stats about how long marriages last etc…BJ took the angle that based on these stats, why would anyone get married?  Here is my take on this…and granted I am no psychologist, but I think too many people out there get married for all the wrong reasons.  Whether it is pressure from the significant other, pressure from the family, an unplanned pregnancy, etc…people are getting hitched to the wrong person.  I know this sounds crazy…but people should just be patient & marry the person that they consider their best friend, their partner in crime…I know this sounds altruistic, and yes, you might never get married based on this mentality…but wouldn’t you rather be single and happy as opposed to be married and miserable.  Look…I’m 35 years old…I honestly thought I would never get married, but I came to terms with that because I refused to just settle unless I was 100% sure the person I am with is the person I want to get old with.  I’ve said this before, yes, life is short…but it’s also very long.  Not to get cheesy, but when I met my woman, I knew that this was the woman that I wanted to marry…I love every second I spend with her & look forward to getting married….which is something I could never say before.  I do believe that there is a person out there for everyone that would make that person happy, and would be able to live a great life together…the problem is that people won’t find that person since they are wrapped up in a miserable relationship, and just assume that all relationships will be like that because that is all that they are used to.  If you could break the pattern of getting involved with people that make ya miserable, you might find someone that you would actually want to spend the rest of your life with.

Big thanks to Hulk Hogan & The Mouth of The South Jimmy Hart for joining us this morning…it’s so cool how we have been able to chat with these guys as much as we have recently…it really does show how passionate Hulk is about getting the word out about TNA wrestling.  TNA is officially going head to head with WWE RAW starting this Monday…thank God for DVR!  The Hulkster is actually getting back in the ring on Monday as he & the monster Abyss are going head to head with Ric Flair & AJ Styles.  I have to say that I am loving TNA these days…the wrestling is great, the story lines are entertaining, and they are doing a great job mixing the old school guys in with the new breed of wrestlers.  I get why Hulk is passionate, he’s a part of a great product that not only has been kicking ass, but I think it is the inspiration behind the WWE kicking ass as well…it really is a win/win for wrestling fans, as both companies are stepping it up & delivering their “A” game!!!!

The highlight of today had to be our interview with Thomas Jane.  thomas will be in town next weekend for the Emerald City Comicon, he is the current star of Hung, and I loved him as the Punisher.  Thomas is a pretty funny, chill dude…and during the interview he kept dropping the “F” bomb, forgetting he was on the air…finally he got frustrated & said “I can’t do this radio thing, and hung up.”  He didn’t hang up out of anger towards us or anything, he just gave up trying not to have a potty mouth…it was hilarious!!!

Today’s Video Blog features Louie Anderson. Since we had so many Rock Girl interview videos to post last week, we never got to post this segment from our chat with comedian Louie Anderson.

This morning we had Sgt. Mark Eakes from the Lakewood Police department in studio to talk about something cool that he & 3 of his fellow officers are doing in honor of the 4 fallen Lakewood Officers….they are going to do a 320 Mile Bike ride called the Police Unity Tour.  Here is more info on this from the press release, as well as how to donate:

• Four officers from the Lakewood Police Department are raising money to participate in the annual Police Unity Tour, a 320-mile bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washington, D.C.

• The officers  (Sgt. Mark Eakes, Sgt. John Fraser, Ofc. Charles Porche, Ofc. Michelle Hector) – the first from the state to participate in the unity tour – will pedal in honor of their four slain colleagues – Sgt. Mark Renninger and officers Tina Griswold, Greg Richards and Ronald Owens. The four were killed inside a Parkland Forza coffee shop the morning of Nov. 29 as they prepared to start their shift.

• Each rider in the Police Unity Tour has to raise $1,800 to participate. The money goes toward the tour expenses the National Law Enforcement Memorial and the future National Law Enforcement Museum.

• The four officers have until April 12 to raise the money.

Double R shared a story of when he was younger (around 21) and got wasted one night…and popped a Xanax, and ended up in a hotel room at the W, and had no idea how he got there. Dub summed it up best by saying…”That’s what happens when you hang with bikers.”

Today we were talking about circumcision based on an email we got. We knew that Bj isn’t circumcised, but we learned something today…The Rev is also uncircumcised…wow…I dub them team Ant Eaters.

Today I read a strange story about a woman that was found naked tied to a tree in Point Defiance park. Apparently, when approached by the police…her & a guy agreed that it was a “consensual rendezvous” – WOW!!! I’m gonna assume this is something sexual…I can’t believe someone would do this. Then we learned if Topshelf’s girl asked him to do this…he would be ok with it.

Today we saw how Roger Ebert now looks…yikes…he looks different…I know it’s a horrible thing to think, but he kind of looks like a ventriloquist doll.

Photobucket

For some reason, Double R asked this question… “Is he a gay guy?” Why in the world would he ask that? Well…here is his response. “I just wanna see if that changes the way he rolls.”

So, if you listened to our show yesterday, we mentioned how Double R was included in the Brock & Salk sports media bracket on their radio show on ESPN radio. I was listening to them yesterday & Mike Salk said something that I completely agree with (I tend to agree with a ton of his opinions)…I can not believe that yesterday’s Buffalo Sabres vs. Pittsburgh Penguins game wasn’t the spotlighted game on Versus. The NHL dropped the ball on this…big time. The reason why this is so upsetting is because Ryan Miller (USA’s Goalie) plays for the Sabres, and Sidney Crosbey (the man who won the gold for team Canada) plays for the Pens…what a great follow up to the gold medal game this would have been…to have the 2 stars go head to head in that game. To make matters worse, Lindy Ruff…the coach of the Sabres, decided to not play Ryan Miller in the game. Look, I get that he is worn out after a great Olympic run…but this match up would be bigger than the game itself, and would have been the absolute best way to keep the people that have a new found interest in hockey excited about the sport. This bums me out big time as I am such a huge fan of hockey, and I have been loving that hockey is being talked about a lot in the sports media world…so the fact that the NHL didn’t take this ball & run with it really saddens me, as I want this sport to get bigger in the United States. It is the greatest sport in the world.

I’d like to share this very cool video with you all…if you don’t know, Thrill (from The Men’s Room) and I have a lot in common….we are both named Steve, we both love getting tattoos, both of us rock the same hair style, we love playing music together (him on bass, and me on drums), and we share the same passion for 2 bands:  Faith No More & Mother Love Bone.  Both bands, up until recently were no longer playing together…that all changed when FNM decided to reunite, and hopefully they bring their asses up to the Northwest.  Mother Love Bone is a different story as sadly their lead singer, Andrew Wood, died 20 years ago (it will be 20 years in April)…a couple of the guys went on to form some local band called The Pearl jam or something like that.  If you are ever in a room with me & Thrill, chances are you will hear us b.s.’ing about Mother Love Bone…hell…when my lady & I get married, Gentle Groove is going to be our wedding song.  Even though they will never be able to reunite, something very cool happened at the Hootenanny for Haiti show that Duff McKagan, and Mike Cready were a part of on Sunday night.  They, along with Stone Gossard (from Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone, Brad), Shawn Smith (from Brad, Satchel, Pigeonhead, and other bands…amazing vocalist), Matt Cameron (from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden), and others jammed out to the classic M.L.B. song “Crown Of Thorns.”  It sounded so good…now I wish the band would get together & have Shawn Smith do the vocals & play a show out of tribute to one of the greatest vocalists I have ever heard, Andrew Wood.  Here is that performance:

This morning started off talking about women & the strange ways they think….it all stemmed from this story:

According to a new survey in the UK, ONE in FIVE women secretly thinks that her best friend is overweight . . . but would NEVER tell her.  And of the ONE in FOUR women who actually HAVE mustered up the courage to talk to their friend about her weight, 12% say she went, quote, “mental,” while ONE in FIVE say it ended their friendship.  (Daily Express)

Here is my question…this is the thing that ends your friendship?  Talk about a shallow relationship…then again, I’ve heard of some women that will befriend a fat chick on purpose so that she will look hotter when going out.  That just blows my mind.  Sorry, but I pick my friends because they are good people & are fun to hang out with…not because they would make me look more handsome…then again it would take a lot for me to look better…I’d have to be friends with Sloth from the Goonies.

MONTESANO, Wash. (AP) – An Elma man was killed by accidentally urinating on a downed power line after a one-car crash near Montesano.  50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he collided with a power pole Friday night and called a relative to pull his car out of the ditch.  When family members arrived they found Messenger electrocuted.   Messenger apparently urinated into a roadside ditch but didn’t see the live wire.  There will be an autopsy but burn marks indicated the way the electricity traveled through the body.

Imagine being a family member or police officer that walked up to that crime scene, having to see that guys burnt hot dog…what a horrible way to die.

We had Jay McGwire on the show today, Jay is Mark McGwire’s brother & wrote a tell-all book about Mark’s steroid use.  Jay said he was the one who introduced his big brother Mark into roids…funny, my brother introduced me to the music of KISS.  So Jay not only introduced Mark to steroids, but then he dimed him out in a book.

Yesterday was an amazing day for Hockey fans…the gold medal game between USA & Canada was one of the most exciting hockey games I have ever seen, if not the most exciting.  I was on the edge of my couch the whole game…great saves, big hits, and nice goals…and one of the most emotional ending I have witnessed.  Canada won the game 3-2 in overtime, as Sid the Kid put one through the legs of USA’s goalie Ryan Miller (of the Buffalo Sabres), and the whole arena erupted in joy.  Props to team Canada, and huge props to the fans up north in Canada.  What a great experience for them to watch their team win in their country, obviously I would have loved to have seen USA win it, but watching the whole arena singing the Canadian national anthem was a sight to see & hear.  That goal by Zach Parise (from my fave team, the New Jersey Devils) to tie the game for USA with 24 seconds left was unreal…I actually started tearing up because I was so overwhelmed with emotions when he put that puck in the net.  My hope is that since so many people were watching that Olympic game, and many were never hockey fans, that the NHL will attract new fans because of this game.

BJ thought he was having a heart attack this weekend while at a Magic Tournament with the Rev.  Turns out he pulled a pec muscle while in the bathroom because he pushed too hard…ahhhh BJ, you gotta let nature take it’s own course & don’t try & force the issue.

Thanks to everyone that came to the Rock Girl Gala.  The theme was Sinners & Saints, and the Rock girls did not disappoint with their outfits.  Speaking of outfits, Toppy got dressed up…but he took the theme a little too literally:

Congrats to our new 16 Rock Girls…if you weren’t able to join us at the Gala, but you want to meet the Rock Girls…don’t fret (fret is a strange word)….join us this Friday night at 7PM in Tacoma at Station 56, as we will be hanging out with all of the new Rock Girls.  Huge props to the bands for playing…especially Halestorm…they kicked ass.

Today’s Video blog is a recap of the Rock Girl Gala…including BJ getting his makeup done by intern Annabelle.  BJ dressed up like the devil in Reaper…yes, a show that has been cancelled….so no one knew who he was…everyone thought he was George Hamilton haha!

The show started off with us talking about how excited we are for team USA in Olympic hockey.  If they beat Finland today, off to the Gold Medal game we go.  I am so excited.  Plus if Canada wins their game…it will be a USA vs. Canada finals…how awesome would that be?  In Canada too!!!  Vancouver would be rocking on Sunday.  Double R mentioned that he is going to try to make it up to Vancouver to try and go to the game on Sunday…he said I should go with him.  I told him that I wish I could, but I don’t have a Passport or a fancy I.D. to get me in 7 out of the country.  So his brilliant idea was this…we take separate cars…so that if I don’t get in with my I.D. & passport, I could turn around & go home…which sounds like a great reason to make a long drive for potentially nothing.  Also, let’s just say I do get in…what if I can’t get back into the US after the game?  Double R had it all figured out… “We can figure it out…you can jump a ditch or something.”  Ok, that’s a great idea…I’ll just leave my car at the Peach Arch, and try and make a run for the border.

Big thanks to Rex Navarette for coming in…he is one funny dude!  Check out Rex at the Parlor Live this weekend.  Go to www.parlorlive.com for details.

While Rex was on the show, we got a phone call from Kevin Smith…it was so cool…especially for rex as he is a huge Kevin Smith fan.  I shot Kevin an email earlier this morning with hopes he might call in, but doubted that he would, but Kevin did & what a great interview once again with Kevin.  His new movie, Cop Out, is hilarious…if you love films like Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, and Fletch…you will love it.  Tracy Morgan & Bruce Willis kicked ass, but I have to say…Sean William Scott (Stifler) stole the film!  Go see it!!!  Kevin spent some time chatting about the incident on Southwest Airlines, he was so passionate about getting the truth out…if you missed our interview…be sure to check it out in our interviews section.

Thanks to comedian Doug Benson for calling in this morning…sadly, Dou wasn’t calling in for laughs like he usually provides when we have him on.  I was chatting with Doug the other day, and he mentioned that he is friends with Andrew Koenig, who was unfortunately found dead yesterday up in Vancouver.  Andrew was known for his role as “Boner” on Growing Pains, and was battling with depression and went to vancouver (his favorite place) to take his life.  It’s truly a sad story, and watching his dad Walter speak to the media yesterday was heart breaking.  Doug has known him since the Growing Pain days, many years ago, and Doug was surprised by all of this as Doug didn’t see him as a depressed person.
